Job Description

The Assembly is hiring an Account Executive in partnership with The Charlotte Ledger to manage advertising sales for their core newsletter products as well as additional products and event sponsorships.

This person will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with partners and potential advertisers across the state of North Carolina, as well as with large national brands and organizations.

The position will work closely with the director to jumpstart a paid events strategy, bring in robust advertising revenue and launch several new products with advertising backing behind them. The account executive will also work with The Charlotte Ledger’s team to sell and improve existing newsletter sponsorships, help develop a revenue strategy around a budding event program and brainstorm new revenue opportunities.

The ideal candidate is a go-getter and a creative thinker, comfortable with taking initiative, with business and social smarts. The position requires someone who is organized and who can effectively manage relationships with clients. The job will require some travel, as face-to-face meetings are an important aspect of this role, and we envision working with people throughout North Carolina.

Responsibilities:

  • Help develop and sell from The Assembly’s and The Charlotte Ledger’s media kit and establish connections with the local, statewide and national brands that have the most potential as long-term and short-term advertisers/sponsors.
  • Strategize and launch new and improved advertising products around both existing and planned content verticals at The Assembly and The Charlotte Ledger.
  • Manage the media kit and sales materials.
  • Travel as necessary to meet with clients and work with both teams in the Triangle and Charlotte.

Compensation and benefits

Base salary starting at $35,000 annually, paid monthly by direct deposit, with a flat 15% sales commission paid out monthly. A successful account executive could look to bring in between $12,000 and $15,000 in commission each quarter.

Generous health insurance plans, with The Assembly covering 80% of employee premiums and 50% of family premiums – as well as dental, vision, life and disability insurance.

Flexible work schedule, with twenty-one days of paid time off, in addition to federal holidays, and twelve weeks of paid parental leave.
